MEET YOUR HOSTS

Together, Nat and Laura bring the complete editorial process to life - from the first styling decision to the final captured frame. With complementary expertise and a shared passion for creating images that feel as beautiful as they look in print, they’ll guide you through the collaboration, precision, and artistry that define truly publication-worthy work.

  • With over a decade of experience styling and photographing interiors, Nat brings a rare dual perspective to every shoot. Starting her career as a stylist, she quickly recognised how closely styling and photography work together to create images that feel intentional, balanced, and alive.

Known for refined, publication-ready imagery and a calm, decisive approach on set, Nat leads composition, light, and the shooting framework that brings a space to life on camera. In recent years, her photography has taken centre stage, with her work gracing the pages of leading design publications.

While she often collaborates with talented stylists, Nat approaches every frame with the trained eye of both a photographer and a stylist - capturing the nuance in light, texture, and detail that makes a space truly stand out.

At The Editorial Masterclass, she’ll share how styling decisions translate through the lens, and the subtle refinements that elevate an image from good to publication-worthy.

  • Laura is a Sydney-based freelance stylist with a growing portfolio in residential interior styling and editorial photographic styling. With a minimalist approach, she leans into the beauty of texture, layering, and restraint - allowing each element to feel intentional and connected to the story of the space.

Her process begins with curiosity, exploring the foundation of each project before carefully sourcing, placing, and refining every detail. The result is styling that feels effortless in person and translates with impact on camera.

Since launching her career in New York, Laura has collaborated with some of the industry’s leading interior designers, stylists, and photographers, with her work regularly featured in Australia’s top publications.

At The Editorial Masterclass, Laura will share how she approaches a space from the ground up - from interpreting a brief and curating a concept, to sourcing unique props and pieces that bring depth and personality to a room. She’ll walk you through the styling process on set, from initial placement to those final, almost imperceptible tweaks that make all the difference.

WHAT IS IT?

The most memorable images don’t happen by accident. They’re the result of considered styling choices, a deep understanding of how a space will translate on camera, and the subtle refinements that turn a beautiful room into a compelling story.

The Editorial Masterclass is a one-day, in-person workshop where you’ll step inside that process - learning how to prepare, layer, and finesse a space so it not only photographs beautifully, but captures attention in the pages of leading publications.

With real spaces, natural light, and guided direction from stylist Laura Rees and stylist and photographer Nat Spada, you’ll see first-hand how styling decisions evolve on set, and how every prop, fold, and flourish contributes to the final frame.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This intimate, hands-on workshop is designed to give you the skills, insight, and confidence to style interiors specifically for the lens. Over the day, we’ll cover how to prepare and style a space for photography, work with light, texture, and layered detail, and collaborate effectively between stylist and photographer.

Through live styling-to-camera demonstrations, you’ll see how small adjustments can transform a frame and elevate design details, learn how to source and select props that tell a story, and understand the process of creating imagery that’s ready for publication.

Perfect for designers, stylists, and photographers looking to create strong editorial compositions - whether you’re in the industry and want to refine your styling skills, you're looking to break into the styling space, or you’re a photographer wanting to better understand styling - you’ll leave with a refined, repeatable styling process and the confidence to create editorial imagery that stands out in a crowded industry.

  • There is parking available on surrounding streets near the venue. We’ll send full details closer to the date so you can plan ahead.

  • Yes, you’ll have opportunities to capture behind-the-scenes content throughout the day, especially during the live demos, breaks, and cocktail hour. You’re welcome to bring your camera if you’d like, but please keep in mind this is a styling-focused workshop rather than a photography event. Not everyone attending will be a photographer, so there won’t be dedicated time for setting up full shoots, and we kindly ask that tripods stay at home - they’re a bit too clunky for this setting. The focus is on learning how styling translates through the lens in real time, so you leave with knowledge and inspiration (not necessarily a memory card full of images).

  • Just yourselves :) We will provide notebooks, pens, food and refreshments so you can focus on learning and absorbing.

You can bring your camera if you like, but please no tripods for this workshop.

  • Spots are extremely limited. We keep numbers intentionally small to make the experience more intimate, interactive, and valuable for everyone. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to connect with Nat, Laura, and fellow attendees.

  • This is a hands-on workshop in the sense that you’ll be actively involved in watching live demonstrations, seeing styling and photography adjustments in real time, and having your questions answered as the scenes unfold. You won’t be creating your own styled sets on the day - but you will get practical, behind-the-scenes knowledge you can apply directly to your own projects after the workshop.

  • Yes. We’ll have a behind-the-scenes photographer capturing moments throughout the day for marketing on our socials. If you prefer not to appear please let us know prior to the day.

  • Absolutely. A light catered lunch is included, along with tea, coffee, and refreshments throughout the day. We’ll finish with drinks for the final hour.

  • Wear something you’re comfortable in :) Many attendees also like to wear something they’d feel confident being photographed in, as there will be plenty of behind-the-scenes content captured.
